The International Federation of Stein Hoisting (IFOSH), based in Stockholm, is a Worldwide Sanctioning Body for the sport of Stein Hoisting. Our board is comprised of World Champions, ex-Olympic athletes and our operations team. IFOSH hosts the World Championships of Stein Hoisting annually in September or October based on venue.
Stein Hoisting is hosted as a amateur and professional sport. It requires the use of two arms, two 8 pound full steins either ceramic or glass, and a certified IFFOSH judge. Arms and back must both be at 90 degrees once the competition has begun. The person(s) who hoist both steins the longest while keeping hoisting form is the winner. Any organizing body who use only ONE STEIN in their competition will be nullified and void of competing in the World Championships. The Chinese started using one arm hoisting in the early 1960's because they were not able to compete vs the earned beer bellies across Northern Europe and the Midwest United States. If you are a witness or a victim of ONE ARM STEIN HOISTING, please report them HERE.
